WA: Cairn to mark HMAS Sydney burial site

PERTH, Feb 4 AAP - The grave of the unknown sailor, the only body recognised as being
that of a crewman from the ill-fated HMAS Sydney, will be dedicated this weekend at Christmas
Island, where it was found.
The sailor's body, on a Carley float, washed up on the island off the West Australian
coast three months after the infamous battle with the German raider HSK Kormoran in November
1941.
"He would have got in (the float), or someone put him in it," WA Maritime Museum curator
